Guidehouse Assesses the Wind Conditions for German Offshore Wind Farm Zones

New reports support the call for tenders by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency

Three new Guidehouse reports released by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie, or BSH) assess the historic wind potential across the German Exclusive Economic Zones in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

The reports, published in collaboration with ProPlanEn, focus on offshore wind farm zones N-3.7, N-3.8, and O-1.3 in support of the German federal government’s goal of expanding offshore wind energy, through tenders, to 25 GW by 2030.

The studies are based on a combination of on-site, near-site, and off-site wind measured data and present long-term wind characteristics at each of the zones. These studies will help inform potential future investment in offshore wind development.

Visit the BSH portal for information on each of the sites. The following reports are available in each site's Meteorological Reports folder:

  • Site N-3.7 - Final Report: Comprehensive Report on the Wind Conditions
  • Site N-3.8 - Final Report: Comprehensive Report on the Wind Conditions
  • Site O-1.3 - Final Report: Comprehensive Report on the Wind Conditions
