Spyridon Antonopoulos is an Associate Director in the Financial Services Advisory and Compliance practice at Guidehouse. Spiro has advised dozens of Fortune 500 clients and US government agencies on a broad range of initiatives, spanning operations, risk, finance, and technology. Spiro has deep experience in the insurance sector, where he has advised senior leadership at over a dozen of the Top-100 North American insurance carriers.
Spiro specializes in strategic technology transformations across the insurance life cycle, from new business and underwriting through policy administration and claims. He has also led initiatives to develop analytical models that incorporate disparate data sources to develop insights with the goal of refining underwriting guidelines, improving claims experience, and reducing fraud. Most recently, Spiro led a strategic cost management transformation within the back office of a major Retirement carrier, leading to $12 million in full run-rate cost savings, 25% reduction in unit costs, and improved service and quality measures across end-to-end processes.
Spiro is actively engaged in multiple efforts in the emerging digital assets industry. Prior to Guidehouse, Spiro was a founding member of a fintech startup focused on payments and remittances in Sub Saharan Africa, which raised seed funding from one of the first-ever cryptocurrency DAOs (Distributed Autonomous Organizations) in existence. Spiro was instrumental in driving partner integrations and developing the supporting regulatory framework governing the use of digital currencies in key jurisdictions.
