Dr. Kjell Bettgenhäuser is an Associate Director at Guidehouse in the Energy, Sustainability and Infrastructure Practice. He has more than 15 years of experience in energy analysis, renewable energy supply, energy efficiency and energy policy with a focus on the built environment. Dr. Bettgenhäuser uses his expertise for market assessment studies, policy evaluation and policy support for municipalities, regional/ federal governments as well as the European Commission, but also to advise corporate clients like international companies and Associations.
After studying industrial engineering (Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing.) at Darmstadt University of Technology (TU Darmstadt) Dr. Bettgenhäuser was working for Ove Arup & Partners in London. He completed the "Business Course in Sustainable Energy" at the University of Maastricht. In 2013 he successfully completed his PhD at TU Darmstadt, where he developed the Built Environment Analysis Model BEAM² and carried out an exemplary analysis for the German building stock. The model has already been used in numerous studies for the Federal Environment Agency, the European Commission and private sector clients.
