Dr. Sam Crawford is an Associate Director in Energy, Sustainability, & Infrastructure. He has applied a blend of technical expertise, market insight, and collaboration to help utilities, technology and service providers, investors, and government to develop and implement strategies to succeed in the emerging Energy Cloud. Sam has particular expertise in energy storage, distributed energy resources (DERs), microgrids, and utility information and operational technology (IT/OT) systems. He has designed tools and processes to support techno-economic analysis, business model development, project development, due diligence, and procurement associated with these technologies. Sam built a strong technical foundation while performing laboratory research on materials for solar cells and lithium-ion batteries. He then helped establish an open innovation platform to connect promising energy technology startups with Fraunhofer’s R&D resources. At Guidehouse, he has helped clients to identify, evaluate, and capture opportunities associated with emerging technologies for the evolving power grid.
