Sacha is a biofuels/low carbon fuels expert who advises a wide range of organizations in the public and private sectors. He focuses in biofuels sustainability and voluntary scheme certification, feedstock potential assessment (focusing on wastes and residues), market studies and advanced biofuels (including synthetic fuels).
Sacha has supported the European Commission since 2010 on the practical implementation of the sustainability requirements of the Renewable Energy Directive. For the UK Department of Transport, he provided technical support between 2008 and 2017 on carbon and sustainability policy development with respect to the UK Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO). As part of this support, he led a review of the UK biofuel industry and waste oil markets and contributed to an assessment of the sustainability implications of introducing novel low carbon fuels into the RTFO.
Sacha has supported several European oil and gas majors in developing their advanced biofuels strategies, and furthermore has undertaken market reviews and due diligence assessments to support investment decisions. For the International Council for Clean Transportation (ICCT) he assessed the cost profile of cellulosic biofuel production and current investment opportunities in the EU. Sacha has worked with a number of organisations on the topic of alternative aviation fuels, including the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on multiple projects and LanzaTech.
Sacha brings more than 10 years of international business experience having worked in a variety of commercial roles.
