James Hansell is an associate director in Guidehouse's Energy practice. He has expertise in grid modernization modeling, implementation, and policy, from distribution grid impacts to AMI network analytics to wholesale market simulation. Recently, James has worked in data analytics, building real-time and forensic applications to glean insight from the spectrum of utility data systems. Additionally, he has developed renewables integration and grid modernization applications, evaluating both financial and operational benefits of infrastructure changes. James has modeled a variety of technologies, from distributed solar and storage to flexible combined cycle power plants to pumped hydro storage facilities.
On the policy side, James has organized regulatory support around renewable integration and distribution planning. Through these projects he has managed the collection, organization, evaluation and presentation of large data sets and the development of real-time web applications.
