Markus Offermann is an associate director at Guidehouse, responsible for ensuring the quality of building-related works. He has core expertise in the field of integrative and sustainable energy concepts for new buildings and ambitious refurbishments.
Markus's areas of focus include air conditioning, heat pumps, and system optimization. He is an experienced project leader of national and international research projects and, with a background as a physicist, he has more than 20 years of experience in the energy and building technology sectors.
Prior to joining Ecofys (now Guidehouse) in 2007, Markus collected eight years of practical experience at the R&D unit at one of the leading German technical building engineering offices. He was involved in the concept design and realization of a variety of projects designed by famous international architects. Of his projects, many are directly or indirectly related to the European Building Performance Directive (EPBD) on topics such as cost optimality and the impacts of energy saving measures for setting adequate building standards (e.g., the 2020 update of the German "Energieeinsparverodnung," or EnEV).
