UK Lenders Commit to Carbon Accountability

In a Financial Times article, Guidehouse discusses the significance of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials’ UK coalition

Three major mortgage lenders, Lloyds Banking Group, Nationwide, and NatWest, have joined the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF)  to form and become the founding members of PCAF’s UK coalition. The launch of the UK coalition will further promote measurement and disclosure of carbon emissions in the finance sector.

In an article for the Financial Times, Giel Linthorst, director at Guidehouse and executive director of PCAF, discussed the significance of PCAF’s efforts to create global standards for carbon accounting.

Linthorst said he hopes recent commitments from major US and UK banks will create more pressure for wider financial sector participation.

“We need to get a critical mass of financial institutions globally that adopt and measure to the standard and report on it,” he said.
