New Guideline for More Accurate Energy Savings Assessments

Guidehouse develops new methodology for reliable cost and savings forecast

Guidehouse created a new methodology for robust, ex-post and ex-ante assessments of energy conservation measures (ECM) in buildings. Guidehouse developed the methodology for the European Copper Institute. It is presented in a new guide for landlords and other decision makers and aims to help overcome one of the main obstacles to invest in ECMs: high forecast uncertainties.

Based on existing standards and extensive experience, the guideline provides assistance in obtaining reliable statements on the costs and savings of major ECMs in a range of 100 k€ and up. This includes support in collecting the required input data, selecting an adequate calculation model, and also in assessing the any remaining rest uncertainties. The guide also helps to set up an ex-post evaluation after implementation to insure and improve the effectiveness of ECMs.
