Renewable natural gas (RNG) is critical to the clean energy future, as RNG facilities capture methane from waste at farms, landfills, and wastewater treatment centers, and then treat it and turn it into a carbon-neutral to carbon-negative energy source.
In a study published by the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas, Guidehouse analysis shows the economic impact of RNG jobs, demonstrating RNG’s benefits to the economy and employment in addition to its environmental advantages. The report, presented during the Renewable Natural Gas Conference held in December 2021, illustrates a rapidly growing industry advancing strong U.S. job growth with high-paying jobs. The study found that RNG contributed 22,600 jobs and $2.6 billion in GDP to the U.S. economy in 2021, and as the industry continues to grow, its contribution to jobs and the economy are expected to increase further, adding more than 100,000 jobs by 2030.
