Transitioning Data to Insights to Navigate Essential Health Challenges

Addressing Veteran Suicide, Other Public Health Issues

Veteran suicide and other public health issues are crises that require an integrated approach of local medical, community, and technological resources.

Recognized on Fast Company’s Best Workplaces for Innovators 2022 list, (in)Sight Health Catalyst uses publicly available social media data to identify potentially imminent cases whereas Veterans need immediate suicide intervention support. This is accomplished through real-time online monitoring of Veterans expressing suicidal intent, with the algorithm focusing on a user’s self-identified Veteran-status and research-based tailoring of key terms and phrases related to suicidal expression. This methodology, named a finalist in VA's $20M Mission Daybreak grand challenge, has the potential to help reduce the number of Veteran suicides in the U.S. and actively engage with those who may need immediate intervention.

(in)Sight Health Catalyst also assists local, state, and federal governments, as well as health systems, to assess grants management and distribution by localized need and data patterns, tackle population health challenges, and advance health equity.
