Guidehouse India shapes futures across communities in India
What feels like a small, everyday part of life to one person can alter the course of another’s path for years to come. Across regions in India, Guidehouse teams are committed to creating change that endures. A classroom with desks and chalkboard replacing lessons once held under the shade of trees. Access to sanitary napkins and a restroom for a child who can now continue her education without interruption. A simple conversation with an older adult that brings comfort and a moment of joy.

Through our corporate social responsibility work, we invest in long-term solutions across education, health, technology, and support for older adults. These efforts not only address immediate needs but open lasting opportunities for individuals, families, and entire communities. Because when access improves, awareness grows, and connections are built, the effects ripple outward—shaping a brighter tomorrow.

Improving education

A quality education often begins with something simple: a safe place to learn.

In Alapakkam, Chennai, a government higher secondary school faced a challenge that is still common across parts of India. With limited infrastructure, nearly 40% of students attended classes outside, sitting under trees. For many of these children, even getting to school is not a given. Their families rely on daily wages, and education can feel like a luxury rather than a guarantee. When children have functional, reliable classrooms, it changes how they show up. It creates a sense of stability and motivation, turning school into something they can commit to.

Guidehouse India supported the construction of three fully equipped classrooms complete with benches, tables, chalkboards, lighting, and other essential learning resources designed to elevate student focus and growth. Employees also worked alongside our NGO partner, INDIA NGO, to transform the school environment. Together, they painted the walls with colorful murals that make the space brighter and encourage students to attend, engage, and take pride in their learning.

India impact-quote 2

“Learning doesn’t happen through textbooks alone. A more welcoming environment may seem like a small change, but it can spark curiosity and make children excited to come to school each day.”

Equally important are the facilities that make consistent attendance possible. In many communities, the lack of proper restrooms can be a barrier, especially for young girls.

We partnered with government schools in Kannagi Nagar and Nellimood to provide essential resources such as restrooms, eco-friendly handwash stations, 5KW solar panel systems, and 240-liter water coolers with UV purifiers. This helps address critical gaps that often go unseen but directly affect whether students continue their education.

Across Chennai and Trivandrum, our teams are also working to strengthen the learning experience through technology. We have introduced eight technology-enabled classrooms equipped with smartboards and computers to schools that have historically lacked these resources. In the coming months, this initiative will expand to an additional five schools.

Showing up, side by side

Team Guidehouse showed up in full force, forming one of the largest volunteer groups at the event. We got involved in every detail—from laying out uniforms and prepping water stations to crafting colorful posters and energizing the crowd.

Though many of them met for the first time, the experience quickly turned strangers into teammates. Sitting together on the concourse, they bonded over poster-making, encouraged each other’s creativity, and shared personal stories. Some spoke about supporting loved ones with disabilities, recalling how deeply meaningful the game was for them.

The impact of the event extended far beyond the pitch. Volunteering wasn’t just a one-time experience for many of the participants, but rather a powerful reminder of the importance of community and showing up for one another.

“Events like this are a great way to get our name and brand out there, but more importantly, they allow us to touch lives and make a difference. And we get to do it alongside colleagues we may never have crossed paths with otherwise. That kind of connection stays with you.”

— Rick Fox, Guidehouse employee

"The most rewarding part of PADAID was watching the conversation shift. What began as a topic many students were hesitant to discuss became an open dialogue filled with questions. Seeing my work help young girls believe in themselves and move forward without barriers was incredibly powerful.”

Building on this work, Guidehouse India supports broader health education through a large-scale sexuality education initiative, Project X.

Reaching more than 20,000 adolescents in rural areas, the program educates participants on topics such as puberty, personal safety, and recognizing and reporting abuse. It has also equipped more than 200 teachers with the tools to continue these conversations in future sessions. In areas where these topics are rarely discussed openly, this knowledge can be transformative, helping young people advocate for themselves and navigate critical stages of adolescence.

Our commitment to health also extends to critical care. As part of our employee-led CSR Hackathon, teams from across the organization developed solutions to address critical social needs. The winning proposal resulted in the donation of a Cryopreservation Machine to the Regional Cancer Centre in Trivandrum, enabling the safe preservation of stem cells required for bone marrow transplants in pediatric treatment.

“Knowing our contribution will help children and families during some of their most challenging moments gives us all a deep sense of pride. This initiative reinforced the impact we can make when we work together for something bigger than ourselves.” — Abhinav Baby, Guidehouse employee

Strengthening connection and care

Access and opportunity look different at every stage of life. For older adults, especially those living in care homes, it often begins with something simple: connection.

Recently, our employees spent time with residents of two senior homes in Chennai and Trivandrum, listening to their stories and sharing moments that brought a sense of belonging. In addition to providing groceries and other daily provisions based on each home’s needs, they focused on creating space for human interaction. Conversations unfolded naturally, turning deeply personal as residents spoke about their lives, their families, and the people they miss.

“Spending time with the residents was a reminder that we all hope to grow older with the same things—companionship, dignity, and respect. Listening to their stories made me reflect on the importance of cherishing our older adults and finding ways to give back to those who have spent a lifetime caring for others.” — Arun Sudheer, Guidehouse employee

The homes also care for residents who are differently abled or living with mental health challenges. Spending time in these spaces offered volunteers a deeper understanding of the realities many residents face and the importance of showing up with empathy and presence. Alongside conversation, our team organized dance performances and activities that created moments of lightness. These shared experiences bridged generational gaps and built meaningful relationships.

“The visit was an eye-opening reminder of how much we can learn from our older adults. This experience made me reflect on how quickly life passes and how important it is to give back a small part of what their generation has given to others.”
