Mahendara Rawat recognized as “Man of the Year” for Embracing Diversity and Inclusion, Gender Equality

Mahendra Singh Rawat, the country head of Guidehouse’s India operations, was recognized as “Man of the Year” by Empowering Women in IT and NASSCOM for embracing the culture of inclusion and gender equality in the workplace. Rawat was honored during an International Women’s Day celebration and annual awards ceremony hosted by eWIT and NASSCOM in Technopark, Trivandrum.

Through Rawat’s guidance employees at our India offices have embraced Guidehouse’s diversity & inclusion efforts, with more than 1,000 employees volunteering in community-based activities in 2018. Rawat’s support of campaigns addressing women empowerment were highlighted in the award recognition. Among those highlighted were Guidehouse’s #PADAID and Hair for Hope campaigns.

The #PADAID campaign was an India-focused social media effort that opened a dialogue on the topic of menstruation to raise awareness, break the taboo and debunk myths around menstruation. It’s estimated that 40% of women ages 15-24 in India have no access to sanitary napkins, causing school-aged females to stay home a week every month furthering the gender education gap.

Hair for Hope was another successful campaign which focused on the lives of cancer patients through active hair donations from Guidehouse India colleagues. More than 50 colleagues volunteered to have their hair cut to create wigs for cancer patients.

Guidehouse would like to congratulate Rawat on this well-deserved recognition.
