Navigant Makes Commitment to Setting Science-Based Emissions Reduction Targets

CHICAGO –  Navigant (NYSE: NCI) announced today its commitment to setting science-based emissions reduction targets through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

Through its commitment to SBTi, Navigant joins other leading companies that agree to set emissions reduction targets in line with climate science.  Navigant has also committed to purchasing 100% renewable energy for its offices around the world.

“The commitments we are making to our sustainability strategy are not only good for our communities and our world, they are also of great importance to all of our stakeholders – employees, recruits, clients, and shareholders,” said Julie Howard, Navigant chairman and CEO.

Navigant is among more than 500 companies globally that are taking science-based climate action. The company also was instrumental in developing the Sectoral Decarbonization Approach (SDA) for the SBTi and serves as a member of the organization’s Technical Advisory Group. Navigant is also a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

Navigant plans to increase the level of its external reporting to include information about the progress it is making towards its sustainability goals.

In 2018, Navigant laid the foundation for its sustainability assurance through:

  • Implementation of a corporate governance structure for sustainability initiatives in coordination with its internal real estate, procurement, and marketing departments.
  • Development of appropriate data tracking and quantification for measuring its carbon footprint.
  • Launching “green teams” comprised of employees dedicated to improving sustainability across all offices.
