Lisa Frantzis Honored with 2019 NEWIEE Leadership Award

With nearly 40 years of energy industry experience, Frantzis will be celebrated for her role as an inspirational woman leader

New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) has named Lisa Frantzis, managing director at Guidehouse, a 2019 recipient of the organization’s Leadership Award.

Frantzis, along with four other awardees, will be honored at NEWIEE’s Awards Gala, which brings together over 500 women and men to celebrate women’s leadership and achievements across the energy and environmental fields.

“NEWIEE is thrilled to celebrate five inspirational women leaders who span corporate, nonprofit, and government positions in the energy and environment sectors," said Jacqueline Ashmore, president of NEWIEE and executive director of Boston’s University’s Institute for Sustainable Energy.

Since 2002, Frantzis has served as a managing director at Guidehouse, leading the renewable and distributed energy business. Prior to Guidehouse, she consulted at Arthur D. Little for 23 years in clean energy. Over her 35 years of consulting experience, she identified energy program options for international government agencies; determined renewable energy integration options for utility companies; developed business strategies for clean energy manufacturers; and conducted due diligence for financial firms considering clean energy investments.

Frantzis is is also a senior managing director at Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), where she leads an initiative to accelerate the transition to a 21st century electricity system and heads AEE’s Utility Advisory Committee.

“Having been in this field for almost 40 years, I am grateful to and impressed by NEWIEE’s commitment to cultivating and mentoring women leaders,” Frantzis said. “I feel a sea change is occurring in this industry—an industry that has had too few women in real leadership positions. I am thrilled to be honored by NEWIEE and am very excited to see so many successful women in the field working to provide a clean, affordable, and reliable energy future.”

Frantzis is currently on the board of directors of the Northeast Clean Energy Council and previously served on the boards of the American Council on Renewable Energy, the Solar Energy Business Association of New England, and the Smart Electric Power Alliance. Lisa has been an Ambassador for the U.S. Clean Energy, Education & Empowerment program since 2014. In 2009, Lisa was given Guidehouse’s Leadership Award and in 2000 won Arthur D. Little’s Mentoring and Management Award.
