Social distancing hasn’t stopped our Guidehouse team from being well and doing good this spring! A team of our cyclist-colleagues stepped up to Bike to the Beach’s Cycling Challenge to help support autism support services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bike to the Beach, a DC-based non-profit, pledged 54-cents/mile for every mile biked from April 20 to May 10 to help fund group homes where individuals with autism live. These support centers have been extremely hard-hit by the virus, both in terms of health (many individuals with autism also have other medical complications that make them more vulnerable to COVID-19) and financials (securing PPE, paying staff, and more), so our team’s dedication to cycling was a great way to help make sure those group homes had the resources they needed to take care of their citizens.
At the same time, the group was able to enjoy some fresh air, explore new sights and get in some good workouts – while always following appropriate quarantine regulations.
