Risk Management Framework Modernization

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) faces new challenges in supporting and sustaining the Joint Force to achieve national objectives. Emerging technology, legacy technology, and cloud computing create a need for DoD Components to innovate and modernize for greater performance and affordability, as well as to achieve more effective global integration. Dominance cannot be expected without a significant change to today’s methods or tools. To shift from compliance-driven decisions to calculated risk decisions, changes in assessment and authorization activities, automation, artificial intelligence, and analytics will be required. Modernization of key capabilities enables sustained, predictable budgets and protection of resilient, survivable, federated networks and information systems from strategic planning down to tactical implementation.
