Shannon McLaughlin has worked with the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio’s Troop 16 since they were founded seven years ago. In this time, the troop has supported over 30 local girls, many for multiple years, by teaching them the Girl Scout promise — to serve God, and our country, and to live by the Girl Scout law at all times.
Each year, the girls complete community service projects, which have included completion of a garden and large mural for a local senior center, revival of local parks by cleaning up graffiti and repainting playground equipment, donations to local schools and homeless programs, and hosting anti-bullying campaigns in their schools.
The girls have learned goal-setting and money management through the Girl Scout’s cookie program and know that hard work brings achievement. They have learned many confidence-building skills, including cooking, first aid, camping and survival skills, and more.
